1964-2014, 50 years of Capitel Monte Olmi
“Capitel Monte Olmi”, one of the very first single-vineyard Amarones in Valpolicella, turned 50 years and the Tedeschi family celebrated on the occasion of the latest Vinitaly.
In 1964 Lorenzo Tedeschi showed remarkable insight and vinified the grapes from the Monte Olmi vineyard separately, thus creating this single-vineyard wine, a wine that has become the flagship of our estate.
The history of the vineyard where the grapes for “Capitel Monte Olmi” are sourced is deeply rooted in the past. Bought in 1918, the vineyard lies on a mountain side. As the vineyard is considerably steep, it was necessary to erect drystone walls, built in local stone. The walls have been recently restored. The vine training system used on the terraces is the typical Veronese pergola.
Capitel Monte Olmi and the Tedeschi family share an enthralling, deeply rooted history and a set of values that you can find in the Tedeschis’ wines.
