Vinibuoni d’Italia crowns our Monte Olmi and our Capitel Nicalò

in Events and News, Press room @en, Wines @en 07 Aug 2018

Our Monte Olmi – Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva 2012 and our Capitel Nicalò – Valpolicella Doc Superiore 2016 have both obtained the Corona, awarded as the highest recognition by the Vinibuoni d’Italia guide to the wines of excellence.

“We are very happy – says Maria Sabrina Tedeschi – because once again our company philosophy has been rewarded as well as the great attention we put into our work in the vineyard and in the cellar”.

Here are our two kings:

Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva
This wine is the flagship for the Tedeschi family and has been a Grand cru since 1964. The wine is made from grapes selected from the vineyard of the same name purchased in 1918 and located in Pedemonte. The grapes are dried for 4 months in a controlled environment.  The wine is aged for 4 years in barrels made from Slavonian oak and refinement is completed in the bottle for an additional 12 months. The wine has delicate fruit that is enhanced with aging and has spiked notes of balsamic.  The wine has great structure and complexity and is very elegant and long lived. The wine should be paired with red meat roasts and game, braised meats and well aged cheeses.

Capitel Nicalò Valpolicella DOC Superiore
The grapes for this wine are selected from those found on the hills of Valpolicella. They are then briefly dried in a controlled environment. Following alcoholic fermentation, the wine is matured in Slavonian oak barrels for approximately 12 months followed by 6 more months in the bottle. This is a fruity and soft wine offering freshness and good drinkability.  It pairs perfectly with mediterranean cuisine (soups and pasta), white and red meats, as well as fresh and mid-aged cheeses.
