TEDESCHI Amarone della Valpolicella 2009 Score: 91

Expressive, with lots of date, dried fig, floral, herb, mocha and melted licorice notes backed by mouthwatering acidity and suave tannins. Refined and silky in texture, presenting a long-lasting, spiced finish. Drink now through 2029. 1,800 cases imported. —A.N.

Well-balanced, this light- to medium-bodied red shows an expressive core of tangy black currant and blackberry fruit, with ground anise, smoke and lots of aromatic dried herb and cured tobacco notes. Drink now through 2019. 2,000 cases imported. —A.N.
