Valpolicella charms Holland
The Tedeschi family wines as well as tradition rich recipes prepared by Chef Luca Nicolis will be the protagonists at an exclusive event organized by Vinites and to be held at the prestigious restaurant Trivio
Culture, centuries old traditions and enogastronomic excellence from the Valpolicella wine country will be the principal themes of an exclusive event to be held on May 26th and hosted by Ali Fitouri of restaurant Trivio, Sabrina Tedeschi of Tedeschi wines, and Henrico van Lammeren of Vinites.
Wines from the Tedeschi winery, which are steeped in the history of Valpolicella, and the savoir-faire of executive chef Luca Nicolis of L’Antica Bottega del Vino will be the star performers in this gourmet event. The event will showcase the Valpolicella wine country to the world as a repository for ancient traditions and artisanal craftsmanship, highlighting as well its relentless resolve to achieve quality and excellence.
The prestigious restaurant, Trivio, which ranks among the best restaurants in Holland, was preselected precisely because of its attraction for those who wish to sample plates and products “made in Italy” with the best raw materials by the most interesting producers. Even today the Made in Italy label remains a source of pride for every winery that through passionate dedication has become a point of reference for workers in the field and expert consumers who are looking for competence and professionalism.
Framed by the allure of restaurant Trivio and the lakes of Loosdrecht, traditional recipes of the Veneto region such as Risotto all’Amarone and Beef cheeks braised in Amarone will meet the elegance and character of the Tedeschi family wines, which will include the repeat award winner Monte Olmi, the historic Valpolicella Ripasso San Rocco and the prized Valpolicella Maternigo.
The Tedeschi name is, in fact, synonymous with Valpolicella. For generations the Tedeschi family has devoted its passion to the vines of the Valpolicella hills that benefit from a microclimate that produces extraordinary and powerful wines that are at the same time elegant, have great character and reflect the typicality of the region. These wines are thus born from a synergy of unique environmental conditions and constant dedication, appreciation and love of the land.
The Tedeschi winery has learned over the years how to marry the rich and complex cultural patrimony and the secular traditions of the Valpolicella region with a remarkable eye for innovation. Together this translates into a careful characterization of their own vines in order to manage and innovate their own wines.
“We are honored by Vinites’ invitation, which reflects the high regard for the intense collaboration that has existed between us for more than thirty years, says Sabrina Tedeschi who together with her siblings Antonietta and Riccardo manages the family business. This event represents an outstanding opportunity to talk about our wines and primarily to increase familiarity with our wines as their profiles are enhanced by the culinary talents of Luca Nicolis. In addition, the event will serve to highlight our region which is rich in high quality enogastronomic possibilities. Finally, this event will also provide not only an additional opportunity for the promotion of high quality wines in general, but also of the Amarone wine in particular since it stands as an icon of the Valpolicella region, the Veneto and Italy as a whole.
L’Antica Bottega del Vino, located in the heart of the Veneto is among the oldest establishments in Italy and boasts roots that date back to the XVI century. It stands as a point of reference for both wine lovers and those who appreciate cuisine steeped in tradition. L’Antica Bottega del Vino has also been a part of the Famiglie dell’Amarone d’Arte since 2011. This association was created in 2009 and today comprises 13 members made up of prestigious wineries that have long produced, supported and promoted Amarone wines. Sabrina Tedeschi has recently been elected President of the Association.
Luca Nicolis, “the director of the orchestra” for that evening today manages the Bottega. He has a long experience that includes working in some of the best and most important kitchens in Europe including l’Arpege in Paris and l’Albereta Relais et Chateaux in Franciacorta. He has also collaborated with Gualtiero Marchesi.
A dream come true will be realized when the Zibaldone, his own restaurant in San Giorgio in Salici (Verona), will receive a Michelin star. His cuisine is influenced by different and heterogeneous stimuli, however, his true passion remains in his own territory, Italy, and above all Verona.
Vinites is a well recognized name in the wine import market of Holland, and is the product of the courageous intuition of founding father Eddy de Boer, who by the end of the 70’s brought the culture of high quality Italian wine to Holland. A few years ago, the daily responsibility was handed over to the current passionate CEO Henrico van Lammeren. From the company seat in Haarlem Vinites is supplying the entire Dutch market with a full range sourced from a wide selection of wine producing countries and regions, in which Italian wines have a dominant role and position.
