Wine Spectator: great scores for Tedeschi wines
Alison Napjus of the prestigious Wine Spectator magazine reviewed 5 ours wines with enthusiastic scores….the 2 crus Valpolicella, La Fabriseria and Maternigo, both got 90 scores….Amarone and Lucchine Valpolicella classico also selected in the article “20 Intriguing Italian Wines“, published on the website of Wine Spectator, available to subscribers on the page Higlights Tasting, the most recent best tastings for the Editors.
Amarone della Valpolicella 2009 – Score: 91
Expressive, with date, dried fig, floral, herb, mocha and melted licorice notes backed by mouthwatering acidity and suave tannins. Refined and silky in texture, with a long, spiced finish. Drink now through 2029.
Valpolicella Classico Superiore La Fabriseria 2010 – Score: 90
Rich notes of fresh earth and sweet smoke underscore the dried cherry and strawberry fruit in this medium-bodied, chewy red, which is silky in texture, with notes of cured tobacco, rhubarb, mocha and espresso crème. This is well-balanced and juicy throughout. Drink now through 2020
Valpolicella Superiore Maternigo 2011 – Score: 90
Traditional in style and elegant, this is aromatic, with dried herb and floral notes, accented by graphite and spice. A balanced red, expressive without excessive weight. The fine-grained tannins are layered with flavors of mulberry, dried cherry, pekoe tea leaf and smoke. Drink now through 2021.
Valpolicella Superiore Capitel Nicalo Appassimento 2012 – Score: 89
Pureed black cherry fruit is creamy and lightly spiced in this juicy, medium-bodied red, layered with hints of mocha, licorice and herb-marinated black olive. Light tannins show on the refined finish. Drink now through 2019.
Valpolicella Classico Lucchine 2013 – Score: 88
Well-balanced, this light- to medium-bodied red shows an expressive core of tangy black currant and blackberry fruit, with ground anise, smoke and lots of aromatic dried herb and cured tobacco notes. Drink now through 2019. .
