Tedeschi in Vinum

News

Christian Eder has written a beautiful article entitled, “Die Signatur des Rebbergs” (The signature of the vineyard), which can be read in the prestigious guide, Vinum, available to readers in Switzerland, Germany, France, and Spain. The article details the story of the Tedeschi production philosophy along with comments from a deep tasting of wines that the author calls “45 years of fruit and finesse.”

The vertical tasting of the historical Capitel Monte Olmi wines revealed that not only do the grapes have their own signature but also that every vintage leaves an unmistakable  mark on the character of Tedeschi wines.

The excellent scores of the wines tasted are as follows:

  • Capitel Monte Olmi 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico Riserva 18/20

…Performance rich in finesse … still at its best drinking age.

  • Capitel Monte Olmi 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico 17,5/20

…nuances of fresh red fruits are still detectable, alongside aromas of leather, spice, violet, and black cherry…

  • Capitel Monte Olmi 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico 17,5/20

… Noble at the palate, the tannins and acidity are perfectly balanced, the fruity and ripe finish makes you want more.

  • Capitel Monte Olmi 1998 Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico 19/20

… opulent start, gifted with excellent acidity and soft tannins, surprisingly juicy with great charm.

  • Capitel Monte Olmi 1991 Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico 18/20

Even after 30 years, notes of ripe black cherry, chocolate, dried flowers, and spice still delight. At the palate, the finish, the elegance, and the great persistence are convincing along with dominant fruit and balsamic components. Excellent wine. Recioto della Valpolicella Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico 1979 19/20

… surprisingly fruity nose, balance with spice and floral nuances. At the palate, it is rich and full of refined elegance; the acidity provides the base that then ripens at length and with dignity. Excellent and with an additional point for 45 years of fruit and finesse that are perfectly balanced.
